The Spanish protectorate of Morocco was the area of Morocco under colonial rule by the Spanish Empire, established by the Treaty of Fez in 1912 and ending in 1956, when both France and Spain recognized Moroccan independence. The rest of the country was ruled by France, under the name of French Morcco, also from 1912 to 1956. But in 1976 after the green motion Spain decided to det out of Morroco with France.

Geography
During the 17th and 18th centuries, Morocco was one of the Barbary States, the headquarters of pirates who pillaged Mediterranean traders.
Spanish troops had landed in Larache in 1911, and they occupied Alcazar. In 1913 they occupied Tetuan, which became the capital of Spanish Morocco.

When Islam expanded in the 600s, the Al-Mamlaka al-Maghribiya, or The West Kingdom was formed, called by the Christian world, Morocco. During Europe’s expansion and colonization period both Germany and Spain fought over it before it finally became a French protectorate with part of it remaining under Spanish rule
